NAILSEA Junior Football Club were lucky enough to have two Bristol City legends presenting awards at their annual presentation evening.

Louis Carey and Keith Millen did a fantastic job of handing out the trophies to the star struck players. They also stayed behind afterwards signing programmes and posing for photographs. Not only that, Micky Bell another City player was in the audience watching his son, Sam Bell pick up a few awards including overall NJFC Superskills winner.

It was fantastic to see so many parents, players and family attend along with life members Ken Vick and Nick and Tracy Kingdom. Unfortunately, there was no one present from Nailsea Town Council to present their award to our Woodspring Secretary Dayne Fisher who was voted for by other NJFC committee members.

YATTON Athletic Under-11s took part in the Scott Murray Tournament at Ashton Gate and came away champions.

The squad consisting of Chandler Kowalskie, Adam Milward, Sol Prewitt Martin, Lucas Mortimer, Sam Starr, Lucas Finnegan, Ben Bushell, Hugh Croucher-Jones and captain George Frost played excellent football.

They won the first game 3-2 against Hallen Juniors, the second 10-0 against Quedgeley Wanderers and the third 6-0 against Kewstoke to secure the victory.

CONGRESBURY Under-10s took part in the annual Aller Park Cup in Somerton and returned with the cup.

With 25 teams entered into the group, it looked set to be a tough day of football.

From the start, ’Bury showed their intentions with a great show of their passing and goals from Jay Murray (6), Brandon Tolley (5), Jake Flevell (3), Reece Ferguson and Lewis Neal.

There was solid defending from Dan Sturman and some great saves, including a penalty, from keeper Chris Beddingfield.

After battling through the five games in the group stages, they went on to play the quarter and semi-finals, winning both games 1-0 to send them into the final against South Cherition.

Congresbury started strongly from the start and a great finish from Tolley saw them 1-0 up, shortly followed by a great assist from Flavell with Murray’s great finish to win the final 2-0.

SWISS Valley Rangers Under-12s drew 3-3 against Isle of Wedmore in a hard fought friendly.

Wedmore went into the break three goals to the good. Valley’s usual keeper Aiden Colston, switched with defender Liam Moore for the match, with both lads putting in a great performance.

Hotshot Lewis Torrington grabbed one back for Valley early in the second half, which saw striker Brad Mundy in fine form netting twice.

Man of the match was reserved for Oscar Livesey, who worked tirelessly throughout.
