Yatton Colts delivered a remarkable performance to triumph over Old Reds Colts 61-10.

The match, held in the December sunshine, showcased Yatton's best defensive display of the season, with players consistently thwarting the Old Reds' attempts to score.

The game kicked off with Yatton taking immediate control.

Within minutes, centre Matt Lane broke through the Old Reds defence to score.

Lane repeated his feat shortly after, followed by prop Clarke Kent's impressive play, putting Yatton in the unusual position of being three scores up within the first 10 minutes.

Old Reds managed to regroup and launch several attacks on the Yatton line.

However, Yatton's defence proved impenetrable.

The Yatton players, including second rows Seb Tarrant and Matt Hill, along with Frazer Lewis, were instrumental in regaining possession through successful turnovers, coupled with impressive tackling that pushed Old Reds' runners back.

For over 20 minutes, both teams battled fiercely.

Yatton maintained their defensive shape and continued to apply pressure in attack.

A clean break by Lane seemed to promise his hat-trick, but he was held up over the line.

Old Reds were then quick to counter-attack, but winger Mo Sayce's desperate last-minute tackle prevented a certain try.

In a dramatic turn, the final play of the half saw Sayce intercept a pass and sprint from his own half, evading the entire Old Reds defensive line to score.

At half-time, Yatton led 33-0.

Despite the relentless assaults, Yatton's defence held firm until a mis-cued clearance kick gave Old Reds the opportunity to score in the corner.

However, Yatton quickly regained their composure and drove Old Reds back up the pitch.

A halted catch-and-drive line-out led to Lewis driving the ball low and hard to score his first try.

Old Reds attempted a quick response, but Yatton secured a turnover.

However, a costly decision to play out from behind their own posts resulted in Yatton losing possession, allowing Old Reds to score their second and final try.

The restart kick was recovered by Yatton, providing them with crucial momentum.

Minutes later, Lewis powered over the line for his second try.

The next 10 minutes were tense, with both teams fighting hard.

Despite spending a considerable amount of time in Yatton’s half, Old Reds could not breach Yatton’s organised defence again.

In the dying minutes, Yatton launched a counter-attack, with centre Charlie Wyatt scoring after bursting through a gap.

With time almost up, Wyatt caught the restart and sprinted up the touchline.

Drawing in a defender, he popped the ball to winger Billy Taylor, who scored under the posts.

The final score was Yatton 61, Old Reds 10.

This match marked the most complete display from the Yatton Colts this season, with every player stepping up to the challenge and contributing to the victory.
