Nailsea & District Croquet Club held their Finals Weekend to mark the culmination of the season's play.
In the Wild Wednesday competition, run by Brigit Clayton throughout the summer months, Libby Howard-Blood emerged victorious with the best cumulative score, while Brian Roynon took the runner-up position.
The Speed Croquet final, a popular event for spectators, saw Geoff Hughes and Brian Roynon outplaying the Malaiperumans.
In the Handicap Play 1-ball cup, Libby Howard-Blood defeated John Hancock in a closely contested best-of-three match.
Roger Baddeley triumphed over Paul Arbos in the Handicap Play 18-point Singles final.
The Buchanan Cup for Golf Croquet Doubles was claimed by Kriss Chambers and Brian McCausland against Meriel Forshaw and Mike Powell.
The Advanced Handicap Singles, a single block competition during the season, was won by Robert Upton, with Paul Arbos as the runner-up.
Roger Baddeley also claimed victory in the Short Croquet final, with Brian McCausland on the losing side.
Paul Arbos was the winner in the single block level play competition for players with a handicap between 9 and 14, with Rob Royffe coming in second.
The Enginuity Plate was won by Andrew Wimshurst in a single block, beating Graham McCausland into second place.
Peter Dyke took home the GC Level Play Cup.
Paul Arbos also won the Sergeant Cup for Handicap Play Golf Croquet, defeating Kriss Chambers.
In the Ladies Singles, Sue Burns won her first major trophy, taking home the silver rose bowl after beating Erica Malaiperuman.
Rob Royffe won the Open Handicap Singles, beating Tony Hinchliffe, while John Hancock claimed the Advanced Play 1-ball, defeating Rob Royffe.
Erica Malaiperuman won the B Class Advanced Singles, with Robert Upton as the runner-up.
The two most prestigious awards, the Golf Croquet Level Play Shield and the Roy Dyer Cup, were won by Kriss Chambers and Marcus Evans respectively.
Marcus Evans also claimed the Association Croquet equivalent, with Erica Malaiperuman as the runner-up.
Marion Cornwell was named the most improved Golf Croquet player in 2024.
Peter Burns and Erica Malaiperuman won the awards for the most improved male and female Association Croquet players, respectively.
The weekend was marked by numerous interesting displays of skill, showcasing the effectiveness of the handicap system in allowing new or less experienced players to triumph over more seasoned competitors.
The event was well-attended and enjoyed by all, marking a successful end to the season for the Nailsea & District Croquet Club.
