Yatton secured a dominant victory against Nailsea & Backwell (N&B) in their first league game of the season.
Both teams delivered a thrilling display of rugby, much to the delight of the large crowd of supporters.
Yatton, who had faced challenges in their previous match against North Petherton, showed marked improvement in their game.
From the outset, they demonstrated enhanced scrummage technique and robust defence, with notable tackling and counter-rucking.
The team also displayed better cohesion, offering multiple attacking options.
The match began with Yatton's no.8, Seb Tarrent, scoring a try five minutes in after a short pass drove N&B deep into their half.
The game then saw action from both sides, with N&B managing to claw back three points through a penalty after Yatton conceded several penalties due to offside play.
A powerful run from Yatton's prop Jack McClellan eventually released second row Fraser Lewis to score in the corner.
Fly-half Jimmy Jackson-Patel then caught the ball at kick-off and tore through the N&B defence back to their 22.
A quick ruck released the ball to scrum-half Zeki Harston, who scored under the posts.
With the final play of the first half, McClellan scored again after a quickly taken penalty.
At the break, Yatton led 26-3.
The second half saw both teams fiercely contesting for the ball across all areas of the pitch.
Despite N&B's impressive handling, Yatton's defence remained impenetrable.
The first score of the second half came from Harston, who, after a near full-length break, offloaded to centre Sam Tyas to finish the job.
The next try came from a wide pass that unleashed a powerful charge from prop Phil Clarke.
Stopped just short, Clarke offloaded to scrum-half Jack Carter, who stepped through the remaining defenders to score.
A few minutes later, Harston scored his second try after some positive attacking rugby and great handling.
In the final play of the game, Harston ripped a loose ball out of a maul and took a fantastic line through almost everyone to score his third try, securing his hat-trick.
The final score was Yatton 52, N&B 3.
The match, played on Sunday, September 22, marked a significant turn in Yatton's season, showcasing their ability to adapt and improve.
Their performance was a testament to their hard work and dedication, and they will be looking to carry this momentum into their upcoming games.
Supporters will be eagerly anticipating their next match, hoping for another display of skill and teamwork.
