League champions Cleeve CC 2nds secured a convincing eight-wicket victory over Hallen, finalising the run chase in just 16 overs.

John Hance starred with the ball as he took 3-18 from his eight overs whilst Charlie Grubb was the leader with the bat as he hit an unbeaten 73 runs.

Hance skillfully dismantled the top order, dismissing Nick Edgar (1), Bob Chandler (9), and George Chandler (1), managing to control the run rate throughout his spell.

Ellis Turner proved equally impactful, taking 3 wickets for a mere 11 runs in his 5 overs, including the vital removal of Chris Gubbins (2) and Jonathan Parry-Evans (2).

Alex Grubb provided solid support, taking 2 wickets for 19 runs in his 5 overs, with Hallen all out for 108 after the initial 34 overs.

The chase began with George Parsons (4) falling early on to Stan Banks.

Despite this, Charlie Grubb anchored the innings with a steady and unbeaten 73.

Displaying notable confidence, Grubb ensured the scoreboard kept ticking over and capitalised on loose deliveries to build a match-winning innings.

Dan Dixon contributed a steady 16 before being caught by Nick Cox off the bowling of Stan Banks.

However, the foundation for a successful chase had already been set by this point.

Ben Morris (8*) joined Grubb at the crease and put the finishing touches to the innings.

David Banks and Ash Bohyar, despite bowling economically at the start, couldn’t break the momentum Grubb had established, conceding 38 runs in his 3.4 overs.

The match concluded with a dominant batting display by Grubb and a comfortable win for his team.

They chased down the target with 34.2 overs to spare and thanked outgoing skipper George Parsons for his significant contribution over recent years.

This victory marks another triumph under Parsons’ leadership, closing his tenure on a high note and ushering in cricket in Division 7 next season.
