Clevedon Town's newly formed Women's team made the perfect start after winning their first ever league game away to Worle Rangers Ladies.

The huge milestone, their first appearance in the Somerset Women's League Division Three North, took place at Drove Road on March 10.

Despite Worle initially leading four minutes into the game, the Seasiders dominated the first half.

They got close to equalising on 14 minutes with Laura McGlone assisting Tiffany Britton, whose attempt was warded off by Worle's goalkeeper.

However, the home team couldn't double their lead thanks to Clevedon's keeper Svetlana Fesenko’s heroics.

Clevedon then drew level on 28 minutes after they were awarded a penalty.

Samantha Donaldson, who was fouled in the box, saw her spot kick well saved but reacted quickly to tap in the rebound.

Her day got even better as three minutes later, Donaldson found the net after breaking down the left and firing into the roof of the net.

It was a different story for much of the second half, however, as Worle dominated the ball.

Yet, a strong defence and a goal by Laura McGlone secured a 3-2 win for Clevedon.

Clevedon fiercely defended their first ever win until the end.
