Clevedon Town definitely had their scoring boots on this week as they enjoyed two comfortable victories.
The spirited Seasiders stormed to a comprehensive victory over Wellington mid-week, punctuating it with a powerful weekend performance against Ilfracombe Town.
Wednesday saw Clevedon's skillfull players commanding the field and building up relentless attacking pressure over the course of 90 minutes.
Despite a commendable performance from Wellington keeper Jake Viney, the Seasiders broke their opponent's resistance with three well-executed goals.
Two superb saves from Wellington keeper Jake Viney kept out shots from Hayer and Freddie King and just on half-time, Freddie King’s mazy run past three defenders put Clevedon went in 1-0 up at the break.
The second half showed Clevedon continuing their offensive dominance and Freddie King caused Wellington trouble.
Another flying tip over by Viney stopped Freddie King again, but on 50 minutes Teall got to the bye-line to cross into the box and Beresford tapped home from close in to make it 2-0.
A final goal sealed Clevedon's victory when Kieran Ireland joyfully scored against his old team after exchanging passes with George King.
Against Ilfracombe Town, a quick lead of 1-0 after only 10 minutes had Clevedon finding the net with a bit of magic from player of the match Freddie King.
The team then persisted to overcome a strong Ilfracombe side, only breaking them down in the second half.
Alex Camm added to the score line on 54 minutes, cutting in from the right to clip the ball over opposition 'keeper Dom Aplin.
Even more goals came in the second half, with a great passing move cutting Ilfracombe apart with Joe Teall, who arrived late in the box, smashing it in to make the score 3-0.
Fluent team play saw the Seasiders add a fourth, and then a final fifth goal when Harrison Coker put the ball past Aplin, lifting Clevedon to second place in the league.
These convincing victories surely proved Clevedon Town are a formidable side with a strong forward momentum, leaving fans eager for the coming matches.
