AN enthralling showdown between Nailsea & Tickenham and Reading City ended in a last-minute goal.

On August 17, The Swags and Reading City, for the second time in four days, battled it out in an FA Cup Replay following a 1-1 draw in Reading. This time, a full crowd watched the action at JLC Ground, Fryth Way in Nailsea.

Joint managers Jamie Smith and Nic Steadman retained most of the players for the rematch. Reading City started the game strongly, forcing The Swags into extended defensive play during the first half.

The team's net was under constant threat but remained untouched mainly due to Glover's exceptional skills. The Swags made some decent attempts at scoring, with Vowles and Mannings spearheading the attack.

Entering the second half, neither side could take the upper hand. The game, viewed by more than 200 spectators, continued to be vigorously contested.

Several efforts from Vowles and Mannings to break the deadlock went in vain. On the wings, Seb Scott's performance added flair. Despite Reading City's tiredness, the game seemed set for extra time.

Miles Hardidge thought differently. In the 95th minute, Hardidge seized a loose ball and struck it into the goal's rear, handing The Swags a memorable win. This victory enhanced the club's historical record for Nailsea.

Goalkeeper Jakob Glover was a star player, saving a crucial penalty. The match was particularly noteworthy—it was the first FA Cup game to be played under lights in Nailsea.

The club has outdone itself by advancing further in the FA Cup than the previous year's progress. Another highlight of the match was the substantial prize money added to the club's coffers.
