North Somerset Athletics Club’s youth athletes had a successful night last week as they picked up multiple medals at the Avon County Championships and Quadkids events hosted at Filton College.
Under-13 boys Oliver Finch and Sam Baker represented North Somerset Athletics Club in the 1500m county competition.
Finch came away with a gold medal after recording a time of 4:52.2s and Baker returned with a silver medal after running 4:53.7s, coming in just 1.5s after his teammate.
Serena Summer Challis also competed at the championships, winning the under-13 girls 75m event with a time of 10.3s.
She also competed in and won her age group’s long jump event with a distance of 4.63m, a jump that has seen her move up the national rankings to 14th in the country.
There was also a Quadkids competition in which athletes compete across four events and are given points for each to then make up their final positioning.
Emma McNamara came second in the U10 girls, Sam Cumming came second in the U10 boys, Oscar Rowan came third in the U11 boys, Charlotte Evans won silver in the u11 girls’ category, and Tess Thurston won bronze in her U11 girls’ competition.
