Nailsea CC visited Shirehampton this week and failed to reach their batting target as they were bowled out for 143 in the 37th over, losing the match by 19 runs despite some good bowling.
Shirehampton opened the batting on their home ground and made 162 after some solid spells from Nailsea.
Nilesh Vaz took three wickets from his four overs to record figures of 3-24 from four whilst Ian Sherreard continued his fine form as he secured 2-20 from eight overs whilst producing two maidens.
Peter Grace also took two wickets as Jack Smith, James Taylor, and Steve Spencer all added one more, seeing Nailsea hold every Shirehampton batsman to below 30 runs as they bowled the team out early in the 38th over.
However, despite Nailsea’s bowling success their batters failed to replicate the performance as all 10 wickets fell for 143 runs, an innings that included five ducks.
Smith was the team’s only saving grace as he hit 63 runs to make the score respectable, and Spencer added 21, but they couldn’t overcome Nailsea’s collapse, forcing the team to resign themselves to the 19-run loss.
They now sit fourth in the table and go on to play Portishead on July 6th.
