Nailsea CC were led to a brilliant seven wicket win over local rivals Wrington by Ian Sherreard as the bowler took six wickets to help bowl the visiting team out for just 83 runs.
Sherreard’s six wickets came from eight overs, during which he allowed just 13 runs whilst recording two wicket maidens and one double wicket maiden.
His six scalps were also added to by James Tayor, 2-26 from eight overs, and Jack Smith, 1-8 from five overs, whilst Peter Hardcastle and Peter Grace recorded maidens during their stints.
The pressure from Nailsea’s bowlers made it impossible for their opponents to get a competitive run rate going as they bowled them out for just 83 runs in the 26th over.
Opener Clements was the only Wrington batter to make an impact with his 32 runs.
Nailsea came into bat knowing they were almost across the line but threatened to make a meal of the run chase as opener Shaun Williams was dismissed for a duck early on.
However, 11 runs from Gary Checketts, 22 from Max Davies, 28 from Hardcastle, and 12 from Ryan Lester pulled Nailsea to 85 runs and the comfortable seven wicket win after just 17.4 overs.
