Cleeve CC’s 2nd XI hosted neighbours Claverham 3rds in a friendly this week in a match where Cleeve’s fine batting and bowling display produced another thumping win, this time by 202 runs.
Cleeve were delighted to be invited to bat first, as Alfie Parsons and Alex Soch added 34 runs for the first wicket before Parsons departed, bowled by Raymond for 16.
Ben Morris then hit a 29 ball 28 runs before Haneefa bowled him at 87-2.
A 101-run partnership followed as Soch, skipper George Parsons and Robbie Wilsher all retired having reached half centuries, before Tom Brown, Oli Freeman and Sam Tuck departed for a combined three runs.
This left Freddie Basnett, 33, and Doug Hinton, 9, the not out batters as Cleeve posted 270-5 at tea.
In Claverham’s reply, only Ryan Vaughan, 20 runs, made double figures as Hinton grabbed 4-15 from Five overs, with two each for Tuck, five overs for 13, Alfie Parsons, six over for 18, and George Parsons, three overs for six.
Soch also secured a stumping as Claverham were all out for just 68 runs in 22 overs.
Cleeve return to league action next Saturday as they travel to Hallen, hoping to secure another win.
