Clevedon Town FC have announced that Oscar Bridgman has signed for them ahead of the 2024/25 following his release from League One side Bristol Rovers.
The much sought after winger had considerable interest from Southern and Western League clubs, but the exciting young player had no doubt the Everyone Active Stadium was the right place for him after leaving the Rovers academy.
After signing Bridgman said: “I had a few offers, but I really like the set-up here and the ground is lovely. I get on well with Alex White and I really like him as a manager. I also know some of the lads here from a few years ago like Sam Ledward and I played with Henry Westlake before.
“I started in North Somerset and have been at Bristol Rovers since I was 12. I’m really excited to get started here because I felt I had grown out of Under 18 football, and I feel I’m definitely ready to play men’s football now. I also know what to expect from non-league football as I had a short spell on loan at Melksham Town last year.
“I’m doing a bit of coaching at the moment, but I’m still ambitious to get back into professional football and that’s what I’ll be aiming to do from here and signing for Clevedon is an exciting opportunity.”
Clevedon manager Alex White added: “I worked with Oscar a bit when he was a lot younger but when his name came up and he approached us, we didn’t hesitate. He is a player who will strengthen our right side, is someone making his way up the football ladder and he’s very driven to have a career in football.
“We both agree this is the perfect home for him at this stage of his career, to learn men’s football, play a lot in a good environment and kick on. He’s a very exciting prospect, very attack minded, loves to get crosses into the box, run at players, he’s quick, direct and has all the properties that tick what we are as a side.
“We were looking to bring somebody in to give us a bit more quality on the right hand side so when the opportunity came up it was an absolute no brainer and we made him one of our top priority targets of the summer. He’s something different to what we’ve got and he’s going to be a real bundle of energy for the other lads to learn off as well.
“I’m absolutely delighted that against a lot of competition we’ve managed to get him on board. I know he’s really going to enjoy his time with us and we’re going to enjoy working with him.”
Bridgman joins the Seasiders just in time for the start of pre-season training with the players returning after completing their own fitness programmes during the summer.
