Portishead Town FC have announced the signing of striker Ben Bament from Bristol Manor Farm in their third act of recruitment following promotion into the Premier Division of the Jewsons Western Football League.
Bament scored eight goals in 37 appearances for Manor Farm last season, helping them finish fourth in the Southern League Division One table, and scored 50 goals in his three-stint career there.
He also scored the team’s only goal in their 3-1 play-off final loss against Frome Town, putting his team 1-0 ahead in the 11th minute before their opponents scored three in reply.
Bament will slot into an already potent Portishead strike force that scored 129 goals in all competitions last season and becomes Portishead’s third signing of the summer after they have already secured the signatures of Hamish Hurst and Callum Dunn.
Portishead manager Kye Mountford said: “It’s great to have Benny on board with us, he’s a lad I’ve known for many, many years.
“He’s a striker who’s always scored goals in the Southern League and his signing shows the intent we’re trying to show at this club.”
After signing Bament himself said: “I’m buzzing to join Portishead this season.
“Leaving Farm was a difficult decision, but I believe Portishead is going places and I can’t wait to be a part of it.”
