Clevedon Town FC have received a boost before the start of the 2024/25 season with all their current first team players expressing their wishes to stay as well as welcoming their first new player to the Everyone Active Hand Stadium on Saturday as Harrison Kyte agreed to join from Oldland Abbotonians.
Manager Alex White said: “Harrison is a very exciting signing for us and will give us so much quality in the final third.
“He’s proven at this level and possesses the ability to unlock defences with creativity and imagination and he will also bring goals to the side.”
“He is someone who has been on our radar for some time.
“He can play across the frontline, and not only does he bring value on the pitch, but he’s also a cracking and is ambitious to learn and improve.
“We’re a great fit for each other and I can’t wait to start working with him.”
Kyte himself said: “I know from last season that Clevedon are a very good team after we were played off the park here with Oldland.
“With Oldland struggling last season I stayed with them but when Alex, Ryan and Sels spoke to me recently I jumped at the chance to come here.
“The ground, the pitch and the set up are fantastic and I’m looking forward to getting started.”
Kyte played junior football at AEK Boco and has played Western League football for Bitton and Oldland Abbotonians.
In his two seasons at Oldland, he scored 23 goals in 52 games, including a hat trick against St Blazey last season.
Elsewhere, the Western League have announced a new sponsor for next season with builder’s merchants Jewson taking over from Toolstation and the league becoming the Jewsons Western League for 2024/25.
The new league has also announced the provisional fixture lists, and the Seasiders start on July 27th with a home game against one of their play-off rivals from last season, Barnstaple Town, and then travel to Somerset rivals Shepton Mallet the following Tuesday.
With five home games before the end of August it’s a busy start for Town, including games against three of the Premier Division newcomers, Ivybridge Town from South Devon, a huge Wednesday night local derby against Portishead on August 14th and a visit to Cornwall to face St Austell on August 24th.
As last year the Christmas and Easter games will continue the new tradition North Somerset holiday derbies between Town and Nailsea & Tickenham.
