North Somerset Athletics Club enjoyed a stellar weekend at the Avon County Track and Field Championships earlier this month, returning home with 56 medals and a new two-time County Championship record holder in Serena-Summer Challis.
Included in the 56 medals were 25 golds with winners in a variety of events from U13s age group all the way to senior athletes, including great team wins for the U13 boys, U13 girls, and U15 boys in their 4x100m relays.
Challis’ two records came in the U13s 75m and 150m as she did the sprint double, recording blistering times of 10.01s and 20.68s respectively to run faster than any U13 girl ever has at the Avon County Championships, as well as winning a long jump gold.
Along with Challis' championship records there were also five North Somerset club records.
Ed Stoates broke the U13’s long jump record, Martha Herringshaw broke the girl’s U15 100m record, George Leite broke the men’s U20 shot put record, Holly Bagnowiec broke the women’s U17 discus record, and Challis picked up one for her 75m performance.
Head Coach Chris Millard said: "It was a really enjoyable day.
“Great to see so many young athletes performing so well, and a thank you to all coaches for preparing them all so well".
