Backwell Athletic Junior Football Club under-14s have completed their fixtures for the season and it has been their most successful to date.
Their two squads play in the local Woodspring League and have done so to great effect, with the Athletic squad winning the blue division and the Wanderers coming third in the red division, their highest ever finish.
Athletic needed to win their last four matches to secure the title, the last of which being against a strong Yatton side, who themselves had won the Woodspring Cup the week before.
Backwell's hard fought, 5-3 victory meant the team can look forward to receiving some silverware in a season that also saw them reach the semi-finals of both the Woodspring and Somerset Cups.
The Wanderers were challenging for the top spots in their division throughout the season.
Their last game, away at Cheddar Valley, saw both teams level on points and vying for third place.
The Wanderers also came through with a 5-3 winning score line that secured them third place behind two powerful Portishead Town teams.
The efforts of both under 14 squads will be recognised on Saturday May 11, at Backwell Recreation Ground and later at Backwell School, as this thriving club, with nearly 400 playing members, from under 6-18, including a dedicated girls' section, looks to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
