Clevedon Town’s Presentation Evening turned into a celebration of the club’s best season since winning the Southern League Cup in 2012 and immediately banished the heartbreak of their defeat in the Play-Off Final the previous day.
Held at the Clevedon Bowling Club for the first time, players and supporters were welcomed onto the greens for a have-a-go bowls session before the main event.
The big winner on the night was keeper James Dunn who picked up the Players and Supporters Player of the Year awards as well as the Ian Burgess Award.
He was also presented with a special trophy for keeping 22 clean sheets during the season, breaking the record of 19 previously held by Mark Stevens in 1992 and Ray Johnston in 2006.
The other big winner on the night was Under 18 skipper and first team regular Sol Kent who was presented with the Under 18s Manager’s Player of the year by Under 18 Manger Lee Archer and the Under 18 Players Player of the Year trophy by Under 18 colleague James Tait who has appeared in every Under 18 game.
There was a new Under 18 award this season, the John Roberts Memorial Shield presented in memory of John ‘JR’ Roberts which went to Sam Germain in recognition of his all-round efforts for the Under 18 side.
The other Under 18 memorial trophy, the Barry Dudbridge Memorial Shield, went to Sam Ledward to mark his achievement of breaking into the first team.
First team Manager Alex White spent considerable time agonising over his Manager’s Player of the Season award with so many players having an outstanding season, but for contributing 24 goals in his first season at Western League level after stepping up from the Somerset County League Division 1, the Manager’s award went to Sam Beresford.
In the last of the main awards, the First Team Young Player of the Year went to Henry Westlake who missed only 2 first team games and Chairman Paul Davis presented the Clubman of the Year award to Bob Moore.
Another new award saw the Seasiders Ultras make their first ‘Moment of the Season’ presentation to Elliot Nicholson for a stunning shot which hit the bar in the league game at Bridgwater United which fell nicely for Sam Beresford to score the winner.
There were special presentations to physio Hannah Lewis who is leaving to have a baby and a collection on behalf of supporters to Caleb Selway who received a horrific face injury at Falmouth.
Some end of season tidying up also saw Joe Teall receive the Player of the Month award for April and Glen Hayer was presented with his trophy to mark completing 250 first team games.
