Portishead Cricket Club made an excellent start to their 2024 campaign in the Bristol and District league, claiming 18 points and beating Lansdown CC’s 2nd XI by 66 runs.
Posset started off with the bat and posted a competitive 162 after being bowled out in the 33rd over.
A match high 74 runs for fourth batsman Charlie Mott led the way for his team, his partnership with Will Cooper, who scored 28, was the strongest of the game and vitally important to their team’s victory.
After Cooper’s dismissal in the 14th over, Mott was joined in the middle by three of his teammates who hit single digits, until his own wicket fell in the 29th over at 147-7, and the team eventually leaving the field having hit 162 in 33.5 overs.
Portishead knew that if they bowled well they could keep Lansdown below they’re total, and they did just that.
A great all round-performance from the lineup saw every one of the six bowlers on the day take at least one wicket, including two wickets a piece for batting heroes Cooper and Mott.
Portishead CC now sit 4th in the table and next play away to Golden Hill on May 11th.
