Cleeve Cricket Club got another five wicket haul this weekend, this time from Jack Chatfield who helped the 2nds to a four wicket win over Old Cathedralians.
OCs opted to bat first on the famous Cleeve track, and James Boulton, who took two wickets for 14 runs in eight overs, struck first for Cleeve to castle Shah and then Kumar LBW.
Cam Elswood, Phil Gostlin and Alex Sochi all bowled efficient spells but without a wicket until off-spin from Alfie Parsons, one wicket in six overs for 27, removed Parvej for nine.
More spin from veteran Mark Jones secured a further scalp as Samuels departed, caught and bowled for 10.
However, it was reluctant right arm seam bowler Chatfield who stole the show nabbing five wickets, including a catch and bowl, that turned the match as OCs posted 123 for 9 from their allotted 40 overs.
In reply, veteran opener Charlie Grubb was caught for eight and son Alex LBW for no score, as Dixon (32) and George Parsons (42) steadied early nerves before both holing out.
Alfie Parsons was bowled for one, leaving Gostlin (12*) and Soch (1*) to see Cleeve past the required total in the 28th over to win by four wickets.
Next week Cleeve travel the short distance to Backwell Flaxbourton, looking to build on the encouraging start.
