Congresbury Bowls Club recently opened their doors for the 2024 season and there are high hopes for another successful league campaign after a few wins.
The season started with a mixed opening day of friendly competition at the club, pitting a 'Ladies Captains team against a 'Men’s Captains' team.
The result was a 111-93 win for the Ladies, the rink of Cole, Stenner, Broom/King, and Harrison got the biggest win of the day after winning their rounds 31-10.
Since then, the Men’s and the Women’s teams have gone on to play both friendlies and league games to start the season.
The Ladies have one won and lost one from their first two games, a 50-21 loss to Long Ashton in a pre-season friendly and then an 87-29 win over Nailsea in their first competitive league game of the season.
Congresbury Men have started off their competitive 2024 summer season with a tight two-point loss to Banwell, after coming away 68-66 losers.
A good performance saw them win three of the four rinks on the day, but a big 26-9 loss in the third tipped the scales to Nailsea’s favour in what was a very close match.
