Clevedon United AFC came back from two goals down to win 3-2 against Clutton Firsts, a result that leaves them one point away from play-ff positions.
After conceding two to a Vinny Sweet brace as well as a red card, 10-man Clevedon looked like they were going to leave the game empty handed, but goals from Mitch Treanor, Nick Auston, and a stoppage time penalty for Oli Jenks ensured three points for the north Somerset side.
It was an important win for Clevedon against the league’s last placed time; they are now seventh in the County League Premier Division on 43 points, one point away from a playoff spot and fifth place Stockwood Wanderers.
Fry Club Firsts sit in between the two teams with a marginally better goal difference, two ahead of Clevedon.
Clevedon now have three games left to play: away to Ilminster next weekend followed by home matches against Wells City Reserves and Timsbury Athletic.
Timsbury and Wells City both sit above Clevedon in the table giving a tough end to the season to the north somerset side, but they’ll be wanting to put on more winning performances to end their campaign both on a high and as high up the table as possible.
