Nailsea and Tickenham 2-1 Brixham
Nailsea and Tickenham FC will be feeling positive after their game at home this weekend, having beaten 8th place Brixham AFC despite the visitors sitting 12 points above them in the table before the game.
The Swags came into the game having only won a single point from their last three outings and would have been wanting a win to change their momentum going into the business end of the season.
Luke Osgood opened the scoring for Nailsea and Tickenham, tucking away a penalty for his 15th goal of the season, and giving his team the confidence to attack their opponents who came into the contest as marginal favourites.
It was then Brixham’s turn to get on the scoresheet just after half time, Joshua James Parry found the back of the net in the 54th to even up the scoring and set up a tense finish between the two mid-table teams.
The Swags had their hero though through substitute Oscar Collins, who came on in the 70th minute and scored the final decisive goal of the match to give his team an impressive 2-1 victory.
They now sit 10th in the table on 38 points, far from the fear of relegation, and will be confident that they can rise a few more places in the remainder of the season with them having games in hand against the next three teams above them in the league.
Nailsea and Tickenham are next in action away to 17th place Welton Rovers on April 9th, a match The Swags will be confident they can get some points from to move up the table.
