Ashton and Backwell United faced Ashcott FC away this weekend and lost 1-0 after going down to 10 men.
The stags had a player sent off after only 20 minutes but managed to re organise themselves defensively and fought hard to stay in the game.
Despite the one-man disadvantage Ashton continued their push for a goal against a team that were only one position and one point behind them in the table and managed to put the ball in the back of the net, only to have the referee wave it off.
Ashcott took their opportunity when a questionable decision from the referee gave them a chance late in the game and made it 1-0 with the game’s only goal.
Ashton and Backwell now sit eighth in the table with four games left to play and will face 14th place Combe St Nicholas on March 30th.
