Counties 1 Tribute Western North: Nailsea & Backwell 24-3 Clevedon
In the local rugby derby match on Saturday, Nailsea & Backwell were too good for Clevedon and claimed bragging rights.
The match in the Counties 1 Tribute Western North finished 24-3 in favour of Nailsea & Backwell as the home side were well on top for the entirety of the match.
In saying that though, the first half was rather low scoring as neither side wanted to be the first to slip up an opportunity to their local rivals.
The first try of the match came in the 38th minute when Ryan Barrow crossed over for Nailsea and Alexander Jones converted.
That gave the home side the least at the break and in the second half they maintained control as Benjamin Perfect scored two tries in quick succession. Jones converted one of them.
The final try of the match came later on, in the 65th minute, Samuel Cook touched down to seal what was a memorable derby day victory for Nailsea & Backwell RFC.
Clevedon RFC are back in action this weekend at home against Chipping Sodbury, while Nailsea & Backwell are away from home against Cinderford II.
