Nailsea Ladies recorded their second successive victory after beating North Somerset Gryphons Seconds 2-1 in West Women's Brunel Division One last Saturday.
Nailsea, fresh from beating Bristol last time out, opened the scoring after 10 minutes on the clock. A speedy run by Ellie Holdaway took Nailsea into the attack Cath Hole picked up the ball and fired from the edge of the D forcing a great diving save by Maz Craig but Gee Corner was in position to lift over the keeper to put the visitors in front.
Craig won the battle of keeping Hole off the scoresheet but Hole created and worried the defence throughout and was instrumental in each attempt to break through.
A second goal for Nailsea came two minutes into the second half when Hole cut a cross through midfield to find Maisy Hole, who put Hannah Lacey in prime position to edge pass the keeper.
The final quarter saw the Gryphons up the pace after clawing a goal back. They went all out in an effort to level the score but Nailsea defence remained solid with goalkeeper Laura Wains-Pople fiercely protecting her goal and ensuring all three points.
