Nailsea Ladies Seconds fought valiantly and were unfortunate not to come away with a point after Bristol Firebrands Fifths scored late on to claim a 3-2 win in West Women's Brunel Division 2 last Saturday.
Nailsea showed their character after conceding two early goals and dug in deep and fought to gain a hold on this fast paced match.
There was good running up front from Lois Pinkney kept Firebrands defenders busy. Whilst Chloe Wilson commanded the defence well with Ruby Cairns, Kim Thomas and Ella Brierley keeping strong lines. Determined work up front saw Pinkney narrow the lead with a wonderful effort before half-time.
Minutes into the half a short corner strike by Chloe Wilson put the game on a level footing again with another equally impressive strike. The game continued to swing from end to end but a draw looked on the cards until a late goal by Firebrands saw the points slip away.
