Clevedon Ladies were hit for double figures as they were beaten 10-1 by Old Bristolians Fourths in their latest West Women's Brunel Division 2 encounter last Saturday.
A minute's silence was respectfully observed before the game got underway. Both teams set out their stalls early as the game swung from end to end, Caitlin Meredith and Vicky Ford going close to giving the home side the lead, OBs, however were gifted the lead following a defensive mix-up.
Clevedon continued to pour forward with Lucy Pope going close, and lovely play from Lauren Bird giving good ball to the front line with Georgina Blackburn looking dangerous despite this the visitors increased their lead to take a two-goal advantage into the break.
At the start of the second half Clevedon put together a great move resulting in Meredith reducing the deficit. The game was on an even keel then it seemed the hockey gods deserted the home side as every opportunity for the Seasiders came to nought despite the best efforts of Meredith and Ford.
And OBs ran rampant a quick fire three goals left Clevedon feeling deflated as the visitors took advantage to rattle up the goals.
This Saturday Clevedon face league leaders Westberries Fourths at 10:30am at Clevedon School.
