Nailsea Ladies were edged out by Firebrands Fourth after a five-goal thriller in West Women's Brunel Division 1 last Saturday.
Nailsea found themselves two goals down within the first 10 minutes but the game became more evenly matched with chances at both ends.
Firebrands' goalkeeper had to pull off some vital saves against the creative Nailsea side who stepped up the pace in an effort to reduce the deficit.
A solo run down the right and a timely pass by Eleanor Hobbs, found Cath Hole hovering around the penalty spot who calmly placed her shot into the back of the net to go into half-time 2-1 down.
Nailsea pressed hard from the whistle, keeping them on their toes. However a breakaway saw Firebrands add a third to their total.
Again Nailsea responded, pinning Firebrands in their own half and forcing several short corners. Good interplay in midfield between Ellie Holdaway and Maisy Hole saw the defence beaten on so many occasions before the latter slotted home to reduce the arrears but were untimely beaten 3-2.
Nailsea suffered for their unsettled start, but a strong performance should have gained them a point and possibly all three and return to action this Saturday at Winscombe Ladies Seconds.
