Jasmine Poole put up a brave fight against Shauna O’Keefe to claim a silver medal in the Haringey Box Cup recently.

The Clevedon boxer begun preparations for largest amateur boxing tournament in Europe with a 4-1 split decision victory against two-time Welsh National champion Carys Mainwaring in Cardiff.

Poole first came up against former junior and youth national champion Lydia Nagle in the semi-final at the Alexandra Palace in London.

Poole dominanted from start to finish, forcing an eight-count midway through the first round, after overpowering Nagle with a barrage of unanswered punches.

Early in the third round Poole caught Nagle with a massive right-hand jab which saw the referee stop the contest to win the fourth technical knockout (TKO) of her career.

Poole’s opponent in the final was Irish number one O’Keefe.

Despite going into the bout as the underdog, Poole, however, had not read the script and tore after O’Keefe from the first bell in an all-action contest which left the judges decision split at the end with the title heading to Ireland.

Poole, fuelled by her fantastic silver medal at Haringey, then took part in the Hull Box Cup.

It was gold this time as Poole beat Lillie Finch with superior strength and classy boxing to claim the title with a 4-1 split decision.

Next up for Poole is the Riviera Box Cup, and the chance to reclaim the title she won last year, in August.
