Clevedon Lawn Tennis Club have launched a schools tennis roadshow, sponsored by Truespeed, to tie in with Wimbledon fever.
The sponsorship has allowed Clevedon head coach, Matt Rogers, to offer a day of tennis for local schools led by the club coaching team.
So far the roadshow has offered tennis in Clevedon School, All Saints Primary, Yeo Moor Primary, St Nicholas Chantry Primary, Tickenham Primary and Hannah More & Grove Primary and has been delivered to nearly 600 children.
Linked to the offer for pupils Rogers also ran a course for teachers to help increase their overall knowledge and confidence to deliver tennis and help grow the game.
Additionally Clevedon are running a Family Fun Day on Saturday July 15, meaning that anyone inspired by the school sessions and Wimbledon they will be able to get on court at a great local venue.
At the fun day there will be Cardio Tennis, Parent & Child coaching, Junior & Teen Tennis and Parent Play.
“Sponsoring a local community club like the Clevedon Lawn Tennis Club that provides so much to the local area is very important to us as a company," Matthew Gerrard, Brand Engagement Manager at Truespeed said.
"To be able to support a club that has the community at its heart is something we are proud to be involved with.
"Personally, I also believe in the good and the benefits that a sports club can bring and do. I have been around sports all my life; and I have seen the positive impact that sport in general can have not just on an individual level but also for the area through increasing local participation and bringing local people together and creating personal connections that last throughout adult and children’s lives.”
Rogers added. "we are delighted to be working with Truespeed to help take tennis in to the local schools, the sponsorship they have provided means we can give hundreds of children the opportunity to try a new sport and hopefully we can get lots coming to the club and playing regularly. Tennis is a sport for life and this gets them on the pathway."
