Portishead Running Club held their 5 to 10K program graduation at Clevedon 10K recently.
Over the course of eight weeks, around 45 participants were guided through a comprehensive training plan, consisting of various workouts and a structured progression towards the ultimate goal of running a 10K race.
Their structured progression and varied workouts provided by the program ensured they were well-prepared for the challenge of running a 10K race.
"It was both amazing and rewarding to watch peoples progress in the group over the whole program," Portishead Running Club run leader, for the 5 to 10k program, Mark Ireland said.
"Many of them had just previously completed our Couch to 5k program and progressed into the 5-10k plan. Within six months, and as result of their hard work and commitment, many of the group went from not really being able to run to completing the Clevedon AC Mid Summer 10k which was an amazing achievement.
"The program was designed to cater for a wide range of abilities and it worked out very well."
Portishead Running Club will be hosting the Black Nore 10K on Sunday, October 8.
The race is run along the coastal path with a mix of grass, mud, rocks and tarmac consisting of up and down terrains.
