North Somerset AC members Keira and Ellie produced an excellent couples of performances in the Lang Laufnacht Karlsruhe, a World Athletics Continental Tour Challenge, recently.
Keira raced first in the 800m in the afternoon and had a difficult draw, as she had to share lane one with another runner in a crowded race.
However, Keira worked brilliantly to get herself into position after the crowded start and looked fast and strong throughout the race.
Her legs began to tire towards the very end but she still managed to finish in a respectful sixth place, out of 10 women.
It was then the turn of Katie’s race in the evening.
The runners in her race were from all over Europe and the lead group set off at a blistering pace.
Katie managed to keep the pace she wanted for for three kilometres but then found herself starting to tire in the fourth kilometre.
Despite this Katie managed to keep strong and rally in the last kilometre to pull out a quick last 600 metres to move up a few places and finish 20th to record a new personal best.
