In a thrilling, high tempo encounter, Clevedon Ladies gained a superb 3-2 victory at Old Bristolians Fourths last Saturday.
Both sides set out their stall early and tested each other's defence as the game swung from end to end, the visitors defended brilliantly with Lauren Bird and Laura Gillespie in fine form.
OBs found a way through to take the lead. Clevedon found the equaliser after Lucy Pope and Maggie King worked hard to get good ball away to the forwards and after a period of pressure Caitlin Meredith slipped home the equaliser.
The hosts again went in front but the visitors charged forward, Helen LaFevre and Kat O'Donovan controlled the midfield and from a short corner Julie O'Sullivan showed her predatory instincts to grab the equaliser just before the break.
If Clevedon's defence were good in the first half, in the second half they were magnificent, Bird and Gillespie along with Iona Ramsay blunting the home attack.
Clevedon mounted a sustained period of attacks and from a short corner the ball was played across the goal by LaFevre and waiting at the far post was Georgina Blackburn who gleefully tucked the ball home to make it 3-2 to Clevedon and give them victory.
On Saturday Clevedon entertain Firebrands Fifths at 10.30am at Clevedon School.
