Clinical finishing from the division's top scorers, Bristol Ladies, saw Clevedon Ladies slump to a heavy 8-1 defeat in West Women's Brunel Division 2 last Saturday.
The game started brightly for Clevedon, pushing back the Bristol defence the skill and pace of Lucy Pratt on the right wing unlocked the visiting back line but despite going close the hosts were unable to capitalise.
The home side enjoyed the lion's share of possession, in defence Julie O'Sullivan and Ashlee Cooper worked tirelessly, Ellen Armstrong and Hannah Becker kept the team moving forward but in the final 15 minutes of the half the visitors found a way through and scored twice to take a lead into the interval.
After the break Clevedon pushed up as they sought to get back in the game, then the flood gates opened as everything fell in place for the visiting attack and they scored a quickfire four goals.
The hosts didn't let their heads drop and continued to be competitive, Bristol scored twice more before Pratt was finally rewarded for a wonderful attacking display when her cross was met by Ellen Armstong to give Clevedon a consolation goal.
Clevedon have no game on Saturday but return to action on the February 25 in a local derby with Nailsea Seconds.
