North Somerset Athletic Club started their winter campaigns in fine style at the Midland Regional Road Relays at Sutton Park recently.
The highest finishers were the under-15 boys team. The ‘A’ team claimed silver out of 39 teams
Reuben W finished in a time of 12 minutes and 40 seconds, followed by Joseph F, in 13. minutes and nine seconds, and Ben C in 12 minutes and 42 seconds.
The under-15 boys B team finished 11th of 39 teams with James B, finishing a time of 14 minutes and two seconds, Joel M, in 14 minutes and 35 seconds, and Seb L, in 13 minutes and 12 seconds.
The Girls under-13s team finished eighth of 28 teams with Amelia H finishing in a time of 17 minutes and 18 seconds, Heidi M, in 15 minutes and 31 seconds, and Olive L, in 17 minutes and 30 seconds.
The under-13s Boys team finished 19th of 32 teams with Joel W, in 15 minutes and 41 seconds, Euan M, in 15 minutes and James, in 18 minutes and 11 seconds.
The under-17 men's 'A’ team finished seventh of 26 teams with Patrick H, in 13 minutes and 36 seconds, Herbie C, in 13 minutes and 15 seconds, and Sam H, in 12 minutes and 31 seconds, the sixth fastest leg overall.
The under-17 men's ‘B’ team finished 19th of 26 teams with Elliot J, in 13 minutes and 44 seconds, Jacob F, in 14 minutes and 17 seconds, and Joseph S, in 13 minutes and 53 seconds.
The under-17s men's ‘C’ team finished in 23rd of 26 teams with Kyle B in 14 minutes and 14 seconds, Nick P, in 14 minutes and 21 seconds and Jude W in 14 minutes and 46 seconds.
The senior men’s team picked up a fantastic result at the midland six-stage road relays at Sutton Park.
With an average age of 19, probably the youngest team in the event, and all homegrown, having been at the Club since 10-11 years old, finished 12th overall out of 97 teams.
Matt Howard was first to finish in a time of 18 minutes and 23 seconds, followed by Sam Gentry, in 18 minutes and 46 seconds, Alfie Hocking, in 18 minutes and 41 seconds, Will Cheek, in 19 minutes and eight seconds, Ollie Lock, in 19 minutes and nine seconds, and Ben Hamblin, in 19 minutes and 57 seconds.
