A 13-year-old North Somerset AC member has finished off her summer athletics season in style after breaking two records which have stood for over 30 years in the Avon Athletics League, recently.
Competing in shot put in Yate, Holly Bagnowiec broke the league record that had been standing since 1990 with a throw of 11.05 and was also awarded the athlete of the match.
Bagnowiec also broke the Backwell School sports day shot put record when she threw 10.32, which was over a metre further than the existing record set in 1992.
Bagnowiec's personal bests now stand at 11.46 in shot putt and 28.96 in discuss. Bagnowiec finished off UK ranked second for shot and third for discus in her under-14 age group.
"As a family we are so very proud of Holly," said mother Lucy.
"It is hard to believe that she has broken two records that have stood for over 30 years. We would like to say thank you to Holly's throws coach Bruce Holden for helping her achieve this success."
Bagnowiec also competes at the athletics combined events at National level and is also a very good rugby player where she is playing for Winscombe.
