Clevedon Swimming Club members enjoyed excellent results at the recent county championships.

For a small club, Clevedon Swimming Club made a big splash at the county championships and had some excellent results

The club came an amazing sixth overall out of 19 clubs. Forty-five swimmers qualified and Clevedon, who are sponsored by Hotsprings, had representation in every final over the course of the four weekends with many coming in top three for their age group.

Medals go to Josie Ballam (bronze), Imogen Bamber (two bronzes), Cayden Best (two bronzes), George Blessitt (two golds, one bronze), Toby Foster (bronze), Ella Jenkins (one silver, two bronze), Riley Price (bronze), Jamie Steadman (one gold, three silver, two bronze).

As a club, we could not be prouder of all our swimmers, but the club’s success would not have been possible without the time and effort of the parents, coaches, team managers, officials and volunteers.

Coaches for Clevedon were Sanchia Reed, Pat Leaman and Kate Ledward and team managers were none other than Jo and Jem Sell.

The ASA County Championships rely upon volunteers for a full weekend to take place and Clevedon was well represented with 15 officials which was more than any other club, with a further 15 volunteers adult and youth represented as great ambassadors for our club working over the course of the meet.

A special mention goes to youth volunteers Sophie Chambers, Erica Godfrey, Sophie Mennie and Max Streeter who were a terrific help to the meet organisers, team coaches and officials.

Since the championships, the club has received confirmation that out of 36 swimmers selected across the county to be part of the County Swimming Pathway, seven have been selected from the club which is an amazing achievement.

The swimmers are all 11-years-old and have shown great potential. They are: Jamie Steadman, Josie Ballam, Leon Youd, Lucia Steele, Ben Godfrey, George Blessitt, Hannah Ripley.
