Clevedon Athletics Club marked another busy weekend with great results across team and individual events.
The final race of the Gloucestershire Cross Country League was held at Old Down Country Park on Saturday.
The sunshine was a nice bonus on a hilly course that provides fantastic views across to the Severn Estuary and Roseanna Stanfield, Natalie Southernwood and Elaine Heyes completed three laps of the course.
The men's race followed with great efforts over four laps from Steve Wood, Martin Hewlett, Matt Crocker, Lee Southernwood, Matt Evans and Clive Richards.
League prizes were awarded, with medals for the men’s Masters team (third place), Steve Wood (third MV50), Tracy Allan (second FV55) and Clive Richards (first MV60).
New member Sam Bendall-Weeks represented the club for the first time at the Newport half marathon.
Bendall-Weeks joined the club at the beginning of the year and has made great progress, finishing faster than expected in 1:41.56.
He is really pleased with the improvements seen from attending regular training sessions.
Fran Rawlings and Elaine Baillie competed in the Hullavington 20-miler, a picturesque road race and popular training event for Spring marathons.
Both had a great race and Fran was delighted to finish as first female in 2:15.43 with Elaine clocking 3:37.56.
Debbie Powell completed her second event at the Woodlands Running Festival in Texas, taking on the half marathon distance.
Conditions were not ideal, with 88 per cent humidity, but Powell dug in and was pleased to claim the first female Grandmaster prize in a time of 1:33.55.
