Following the Toolstation Western League AGM last week Clevedon Town are looking forward to a Premier Division showcasing a number of changes.

The League announced the fixtures for the first week of the season with the Seasiders facing a tough start, with an opening day trip to Saltash United on Saturday July 30.

The first home game follows on Wednesday August 3 when Clevedon entertain Cadbury Heath in a repeat of last season’s first game.

Town will be looking for a better start than last time out when after a creditable 2-2 draw at eventually promoted Exmouth Town when they picked up three wins in the next 15 games.

Manager Alex White said: “Everyone loves the first game of the season announcement, and it creates a real buzz. In reality you have to play everyone twice anyway but it’s always good to have something to work towards.

“Saltash finished the season strongly and also have Anew management team and some attractive signings and no doubt will be as tough a start as we could have asked for, especially away.

“However, we tend to be at our best going in as underdogs but we must start the first ten gaessignificantly better than we did last season.”

The League have also announced the Les Phillips Cup daw with the Seasiders visiting local neighbours and Toolstation new boys Nailsea & Tickenham in the First Round.

“I was pleased when I heard the draw. It wil be goo to welcome them into the league because I know they have put in a lot of hard work to get there,” White added.

“I watched them a couple of times last season and they are a good team and will be competitive in the First Division. I have said before that I take all cup competitions very seriously so we will approach the game in the right manner.”

However, the Premier Division has made a lot of changes.

Tavistock and Exmouth Town were both promoted to the Southern League Division One South while bottom club Bridport are relegated to the South West Peninsula League Premier East.

Five clubs join the division, with Clevedon having faced all of them in the past.

Barnstaple Town return to the Toolstation league after five seasons in the Southern League.

First Division duo Sherborne Town and Welton Rovers also join while both Falmouth Town and Torpoint Athletic join from the South West Peninsula League.
