PLANS have been submitted to convert a property in Clevedon into a premises for health treatments and holistic therapies.

The application was submitted by Ms Mason on Monday, July 31, who has only recently purchased the property on 1 Marine Hill.

If the plans are successful, the building will be turned into a premises for treatments. Non-original lobby walls and doors will be removed to create a larger, more accessible entrance and reception area.

A new kitchenette area will be created in a former hallway, whilst a therapy room will be installed to the rear of the building.

The Design and Access Heritage Statement, made by Wall Architecture, reads: "No. 1 Marine Hill property is located at the end of a terraced, corner plot, Georgian building. The building faces on to three roads - Marine Hill, Hill Road and Copse Road.

"The building is predominantly shops or services at ground floor with accommodation above. No.1 Marine Hill was previously used as ‘The Physical Therapy Clinic’.

"The applicant and architect have chosen the proposals, as part of this application, by carefully considering the existing building and its architectural features.

"The intention is to only improve the property and its Grade II historic value, by reviewing which aspects of the building are in need of careful remedial repairs, and which have been recent (non-original) additions.

"Any new elements are in keeping with the age, period and style of the existing property, but also compliment the street scene and wider local area.

"It is of the architect's opinion that the proposals as part of this application will have no detrimental impact on the existing property, neighbouring properties, street scene or wider area views.

"The changes are sympathetic and necessary to allow the property to be used for therapy treatments by the applicant. The elements shown in this application are in keeping with its historic use, the adjoining neighbouring properties, and both the local / wider area.

"The property is in need of the remedial works and a new functioning business within the property will help improve the overall local area."
