A NEW bookshop has opened its doors in Clevedon, set up by a young entrepreneur.

The shop, called Books on the Hill opened on August 30.

It has been set up by Alistair Sims, who lived in Clevedon as a child and has returned at the age of 27.

Despite suffering from severe dyslexia, Alistair has managed to gain a PHD and is a huge fan of books. He studied for a doctorate in history and archaeology before starting out on this venture.

He said: “I have always wanted to have my own bookshop.

“Because I am dyslexic I had difficulty reading until I was 13 years old. As a result since then books have been very important to me.

“Setting up a bookshop was one way of combating my dyslexia.

“I’m going to be publishing my PHD and printing articles from it.

“I’m trying to create a bookshop which is a hub for the community and also where I can progress my work as well.”

Alistair has opened the shop with the help of his mum, Joanne, and his partner Chloe Smirk.

The bookshop is in Hill Road and Alistair is looking forward to meeting his new customers.
