A DAY care service for people with autism and learning difficulties is relocating from Clevedon to Nailsea.

The Strode Road Outreach Centre will be closing at the beginning of the new year as it is “no longer suitable for the support the service provides”.

Tnew location will be Sycamore Lodge on Long Lane in Nailsea, a larger premises which will allow for the service to be available during evenings and weekends.

North Somerset Council has acknowledged that this might be disruptive for families who use the service in the Clevedon area.

A spokesperson for the council said: “We are moving our day care services for people with learning disabilities, run for us by Brandon Trust, from Clevedon to Nailsea early in the new year.

“This change is urgent because the current building on Strode Road is no longer suitable for the support the service provides.

“We understand this move may cause some disruption and we are working closely with families to keep it to a minimum.

The council said anyone worried about the move can contact it directly so it can work with them to resolve their concerns.
