Families and young people had the chance to experience life in a prison cell at a community event.
North Somerset Council recently hosted the Safer Communities: Protecting our futures event at Ashcombe Children's Centre.
It was aimed at families and young people aged 0 to 19 (up to 25 with SEND) living in North Somerset.
The free event aimed to teach attendees how to make safer choices within their community and inform them of the services available.
A highlight of the event was the 'drugs bus' provided by Resilience Voyage, which gave children an immersive experience of what it's like to live in a prison cell.
The bus also educated them on topics such as drugs and substance abuse.
Various organisations, including Avon and Somerset Police, Avon Fire and Rescue Service, St John Ambulance, and Weston Ability Football Club, exhibited on the day.
They offered workshops and activities for attendees to participate in.
The council's Children's Centres team organised the event as part of the council's vision to ensure a safer environment and future for children and young people in North Somerset.
Councillor Catherine Gibbons, from North Somerset Council, said: "The Safer Communities event was an excellent opportunity for families and young people to learn more about making safe choices within their community, learn new information and have fun whilst doing so.
"We want to make sure that all our children and young people get the very best start in life and running events like these are a fantastic way to showcase the wide range of support we have on offer.
"Thank you to all of the Children's Centre team who helped to plan and organise this event, and to all the partners who exhibited.
"I hope that all the families and young people who attended enjoyed this fantastic event."
This event was one of three Safer Community events that the Children's Centres team will be organising, with two more events coming up next year.
