A Somerset tidal pool which offers "sweeping views" and is a "beautiful spot to watch the sunrise" has been named among the most beautiful to visit in the UK.
Clevedon Marine Lake was featured in the article from CN Traveller, which was created by writer Freya Bromley.
Tidal pools as a subject helped her overcome a personal tragedy after her younger brother, Tom, died of bone cancer in 2016.
She explained: "I needed to dip my toes into my emotions – anger, regret, guilt and confusion – without being swept away, so I travelled to every tidal pool in Britain and wrote about my adventure in The Tidal Year.
"My hope was that cold water could be a natural antidote to loss, and “fix” me. I didn’t find what I was looking for, but I did find people who shared my passion, many of whom were also searching for something in the chilly water."
Overall, Bromley found tidal pools to be "symbols of community, resilience and hope" which helped her create a list detailing the most beautiful in the UK.
For clarification, a tidal pool is a natural seawater pool filled by the tide with a manmade element, such as metal steps or a concrete boundary.

"The marine lake, which dates from 1929, is open all day almost every day of the year, but is subject to “overtopping” tides that spill over the wall.
"The lake buzzes with all-weather swimmers, paddleboarders and canoers, and beyond it are cafés packed with cyclists and joggers.

"In the heyday of this Severn Estuary seaside town, the pool had diving boards, deckchairs, beach huts and a bandstand. Now, it’s more of a packed lunch and picnic blanket affair."
The site is also well-received by visitors, with it having earned a 4.5/5 rating on Tripadvisor from 136 reviews.
As well as being open almost every day of the year, there is no need to book a slot at Clevedon Marine Lake, although they do ask visitors to donate an entry fee (recommended at £2).
Its website adds: "Clevedon Marine Lake is a tidal pool on the Somerset coast. It gets filled with seawater from the Bristol Channel every spring tide.

"It’s a safe place to play, swim and boat and an important part of Clevedon’s community.
"Clevedon Marine Lake is owned by North Somerset Council. It is run by a charity called Marlens who raise money to keep it in good, clean, safe order."
Around two-thirds of the space is less than five feet deep so it is useful for water sports experiences and educational trips.
