Portishead Probus Club is opening its doors to female members for the first time.
Founded in 1973, the club has predominantly catered to male members, though it has always been open to women.
The club is a gathering of around 55 mature adults, many of whom are or have been professionals, including business owners and managers.
The first meeting with female members in attendance will be on Wednesday, November 20, at Clarence House, High Street, Portishead.
The event will begin at noon with drinks in the bar, followed by a two-course lunch.
The meeting will also include a guest speaker discussing the Great Western Ambulance Services.
A Probus Club spokesman said: "The ladies in question are being warmly welcomed by members who feel access to the club has always been open to all that meet our membership profile."
The club offers a platform for members to renew acquaintances and discuss recent events, ranging from the US presidential election results to government budget announcements.
Portishead Probus has a tradition of hosting monthly lunches with a guest speaker.
Currently, membership to the Portishead Probus club is free for the first year and then £20 per year.
The monthly two-course meal is set at £23.
There is free parking for Probus members.
The spokesman added: "If you are interested in visiting Portishead Probus as a potential member, you will be warmly welcomed."
