UPDATE - Avon and Somerset Police said: "The driver, a man in his twenties, has injuries currently described as life-threatening.

"His passenger has gone to hospital as a precaution.

"The car had failed to stop for a marked police vehicle and almost immediately was involved in a collision with a tree.

"A referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct."

TWO people have been taken to hospital after a serious injury collision on the A370 near Flax Bourton.

The collision happened at 2am this morning (Wednesday, November 6), and an Avon and Somerset Police spokesperson said the road is still closed.

The driver and passenger of a black BMW 5 series have both gone to hospital and their next of kin have been made aware.

The driver has injuries currently described as life-threatening, while the passenger has gone to hospital as a precaution.

No other injuries have been reported.

A marked police vehicle was immediately behind the car and the Independent Office for Police Conduct has been informed.

The road was closed between its junctions with Stancombe Lane and Barrow Street/the B3130 to allow collision investigation.

The police spokesperson also said: “If you have any dashcam or other footage, or any information which could help the investigation, please call 101 reference log number 54 of Wednesday, November 6.”
