Dear Tim,

The issue of preparedness and resilience in preparation for war needs to be talked about openly, not done behind closed doors.

Keeping readers and all North Somerset residents in the dark about the consequences of the Middle East and Russia/Ukraine makes no sense when UK foreign policy appears to turn from bad to worse (whenever we switch on the television).

The open UK and USA threats of attacks to destroy Iran and Palestine (and cause more war against Russia by Ukraine, by using tax-payer funding without our permission) should cause us enough concerns to start us thinking about what future troubles (and the costs which could need to be met in the very near future).

We could i) all put our heads in the sand and believe that we can carry on #without a care in the world', or ii) work out how we will cope in a worsening economic climate if war was forced on us by bad UK & USA gung-ho military policy towards the rest of the world; which one really makes the most realistic sense current circumstances?

Please publish the attached letter to get our local council thinking of its various 'what if' options to avoid a total melt-down if a hot war was to spread to affect us directly.

Being realistic,

Richard Sibley
