Fundraisers at a children's hospice are calling for volunteers to help collect money at Shepton Mallet Carnival.

The event, on November 13, is one of seven parades by the Somerset County Guy Fawkes Carnival Association.

Attracting tens of thousands from around the world, the carnival is known as one of Europe's largest illuminated processions.

It raises substantial funds for charities and the local economy.

Children's Hospice South West (CHSW) will join the parade and is seeking volunteers to help collect donations.

CHSW area fundraiser, Kylie Gallagher, said: "We have taken part in the Shepton Mallet Carnival for the last two years and it is a really great evening for all involved.

"This year we are looking for volunteers to help us shake the buckets along the route and help us collect as much money as possible.

"It’s a fun way to spend a few hours and be part of the carnival while raising money for a fabulous cause which supports families from right across Somerset."

The CHSW team will be donned in Santa suits, promoting the Santas on the Run event at Charlton Farm on December 8.

Anyone willing to volunteer can contact Kylie Gallagher at 01275 866600 or kylie.gallagher@chsw.org.uk.
