RESIDENTS and businesses in Clevedon and Portishead are invited to attend a series of engagement events this November to help shape the future of transport hubs in their communities.

These events – two which are open to all residents and two which are specifically aimed at local businesses – will offer a chance for communities to influence the initial concept designs for these important transport facilities.

For communities, transport hubs are intended to offer useful facilities that make it easier and more appealing to travel on foot, by wheel and by bus – providing a connection point between these different forms of transport. They also offer an attractive focal point for communities, helping to boost town and village centres.

In Portishead, an event for businesses will take place on:

• Date: Wednesday 6 November

• Time: 5pm to 7pm

• Location: Youth and Community Group, Harbour Lane, BS20 7DD.

An event for the wider Portishead community will then take place on:

• Date: Saturday 9 November

• Time: 9am to 12.30pm

• Location: Farmers Market, Waitrose Piazza, BS20 7JN.

In Clevedon, an event for the general public will be held on:

• Date: Thursday 7 November

• Time: 9am to 4pm

• Location: Clevedon Market, Queen’s Square, Station Road, BS21 6NH.

While an event for Clevedon-based businesses will follow on:

• Date: Thursday 7 November

• Time: 5pm to 7pm

• Location: The Theatre Shop, Unit 5 Clevedon Triangle Centre, BS21 6HX.

Councillor Hannah Young, executive member for Highways and Transport at North Somerset Council said: “If you live or work in Clevedon or Portishead, please do come along to one of our events in November.

“These events mark the start of a six-month programme of public engagement to develop our new transport hubs – an exciting opportunity to help directly shape the designs and tailor them to the needs of the community.

“These events and discussions will help to determine the features of our future hubs.

“These could include anything from high quality waiting areas, real-time information displays and electric vehicle charging, to secure cycle facilities, additional seating and planting, bins and parcel lockers.”
